Additionally, Actiphy’s StorageServer has been engineered to take advantage of cache devices to increase performance during data transfer thereby substantially reducing backup time.
StorageServer in effect, achieves increased data security and provides faster data transfers than the traditional Windows-shared folders or NAS based storage.

– New Tracking Driver with no Reboot Required

Our newly developed tracking driver eliminates the need for a reboot after installation or upgrading, enabling users to install or upgrade ActiveImage Protector with no service interruptions.

– QuickRecovery

Use QuickRecovery, a pre-prepared recovery environment to undo recent changes that have caused system instability due to a software or OS update. Select a specific restore point from the backup that was created prior to the current state of the system for an immediate recovery.

– Recovery Media Maker

Create bootable recovery media with the backup source machine’s image embedded for an ideal disaster recovery (DR) solution should the backup destination become inaccessible. This feature accommodates various media, including DVD/Blu-ray, USB HDD, and USB Memory. One button click from the booted media will initiate recovery from the embedded image file.

– Support for VMware First Class Disk (FCD)

Direct backup and recovery of VMware’s FCD formatted disks.

This new version can now backup and restore directly to and from public cloud services and SFTP servers. With new In-Cloud Recovery, backup images can be restored as VMs in the cloud environment. New LTO Tape Support provides high speed backup of bulk data to high capacity tape storage solutions to ensure long-term archival stability. Point-in-time file and folder backup, a frequently requested feature, has been included in this release.

New Features

Direct-To-Cloud Backup
Backup systems directly to cloud storage. Supported public cloud storage services include Amazon S3 and Azure as backup destinations. In addition, Direct-To-Cloud Backup also supports SFTP servers as backup destinations.

In-Cloud Recovery
Any backup image can be restored directly to a virtual machine within the same cloud environment. In-Cloud Recovery offers an easy system migration of on-premise virtual or physical machines directly to cloud environments.

Actiphy Portal Service (APS)
A powerful new on-line monitoring portal designed for Managed Service Providers (MSP), distributors and resellers. APS provides monitoring ActiveImage Protector (AIP) clients, collecting backup logs and generating reports of AIP clients’ task status.

LTO Tape Support
Support for LTO as a backup destination. Backup data saved on tape can be physically isolated from ransomware attacks and ensures long-term archival stability.

File Backup
A new file backup option providing granular point-in-time backup and restore of specific files and folders.

RescueBoot
Adds an optional boot recovery environment to the system boot menu.

Disk-To-Disk Copy
A new disk-to-disk copy option that supports virtual disks, physical disks, and volumes, for a complete sector by sector copy.

Offline Environment Activation Support
With Actiphy Authentication Service (AAS) or a license file, ActiveImage Protector agents can be activated in an off-line environment.

iSCSI Target Server
Utilize iSCSI targets and NFS exports to emulate backup images as virtual disk files for flexible and immediate recovery or migration.

Subscription License
Annual, three-year, five-year subscription and perpetual licenses are now available.

Hybrid Licensing for Server Edition
Selectable Agent-based or Agentless Backup licensing is now available for server edition.

Additional Linux Distributions Support
ActiveImage Protector Linux edition now supports Ubuntu 18.04 LTS and 20.04 LTS, Debian 9/10/11, RedHat 8.4, Rocky Linux 8, Alma Linux 8 and Amazon Linux 2.

Monitor all clients’ backups in the Cloud

14.06.2021 Nyon – Actiphy is simplifying the monitoring of backup jobs with a new online portal designed mainly for IT Resellers and Managed Service Providers. Actiphy Portal Service (APS) has been specially designed with IT Channel Partners in mind, to monitor clients’ backup infrastructure and generate reports from a single location on the web. It is a free!

Actiphy Portal Service is a powerful cloud-based help for IT Partners’ daily management of backup tasks. This tool is free of charge and does not require users from switching to more expensive backup licences, as other backup and DR competitors often require.

Service Providers who already use ServerEYE, Solarwind (Acmeo), PRTG Pässler or others to monitor their systems, should continue to use their Remote Monitoring and Management tools as they inspect all areas outside of backup. Should technicians wish to know more details about backup tasks, they can get more information with the APS console. A perfect synergy!

– Users: Create, remove or temporarily disable users. The current beta version only supports creating users of the type “Admin”.
– Licencing: general state of agent licenses and get an overview of license status.

What is the future of Actiphy Portal Service?

The full version will be released after having taken into considerations all feedback received during beta-testing.

Software update (ActiveVisor)

The Covid-19 pandemic has changed how we work, and that’s changing how we must protect our computing resources. With so many people working from home and from remote locations it is essential that any reliable backup and recovery solution provide the ability to protect and recover valuable data from virtually anywhere.

ActiveVisor is a centralized backup management console for ActiveImage Protector, providing a visual representation of statistical data, real-time monitoring of backup status, storage space availability, and helping you to deploy installations, agent-based and agentless backup tasks, as well as schedules. In the event of a backup failure, ActiveVisor displays where the failure occurred so you can address it as soon as possible. System administrators can substantially reduce workloads by monitoring and managing the backup status and configured backup settings for ActiveImage Protector from any location.

– Enhanced integration with Active Directory includes selecting specific machines from the list of Active Directory search results and adding those machines to the list of managed ActiveImage Protector systems.
– Get notified when new ActiveImage Protector agent-based and agentless installations are added.
– ActiveImage Protector agents automatically find and connect to ActiveVisor consoles for ease of use.
– Push install ActiveImage Protector software patches and updates to save time by initiating deployments from a single location.

The updated build version 6.0.2.1507 was released in EMEA on 1st of March 2021.

Standard features

– Administrators can manage, monitor, and modify backup agents, and task schedules from any location using a browser-based console.
– Manage Azure Virtual Clients connected to local network domains.
– Auto-scroll option in the monitoring panel displays alerts of the latest changes occurring on protected systems: the system information automatically displays at the top of the panel any status changes.
– The dashboard window provides a graphical representation of computers on the network, ActiveImage protected machines, and visually draws attention to the status of task execution.
– Systems can be grouped for management purposes. Groups can be rearranged, if necessary, based on changes to a systems configuration.
– Schedules may be configured based on individual system requirements, or apply a predefined scheduled template to deploy a pattern-based backup schedule to batches of systems.
