Cannot Boot Windows 8 Secure Boot Machines with Acronis Loader

A hotfix is available for True Image 2013

This article applies to:

  • True Image 2013 by Acronis
  • Acronis Backup & Recovery 11.5

  1. You have a Windows 8 machine with Secure boot enabled;
  2. You attempt to boot the machine with Acronis Loader: from Acronis Bootable Media or Acronis Startup Recovery Manager;
  3. The attempt fails – the machine either hangs on Loading, please wait… or fails to load with an error message from Windows Secure boot.

With the Secure boot enabled in BIOS, Windows 8 will not let any unsigned loader boot the machine.

This is a Windows 8 security measure.
