Scale Computing Launches Industry’s First Edge Computing Trial Program with Hardware

INDIANAPOLIS – October 27 – Scale Computing, a market leader in edge computing, virtualization and hyperconverged solutions, today announced a no cost 30-day trial program for qualified customers to try the new Scale Computing HE150. Built specifically for multi-site deployments that need highly available infrastructure on-premises and remote management, the HE150 can be deployed almost anywhere. The trial will be managed with select Scale Computing Partner Community resellers who will supply the technology and consulting services needed to get started. Organizational leaders interested in edge computing can sign up here.

As technology pushes its way into every part of business, the need for edge computing to support an application-driven world is expanding. The award winning HC3 Edge technology brings simple, available, and affordable infrastructure for applications in places where IT resources are impossible. The HE150 can run applications at maximum uptime where it was not feasible to before due to location and lack of IT resources; use cases include retail, grocery, doctors offices, branch locations; manufacturing shop floors, educational facilities, local government offices – the possibilities are endless.

“With no IT staff on site, downtime is a constant concern at each of our locations. Downtime can cost us tens of thousands of dollars, and therefore is not an option for Jerry’s Foods,” explained Jeff Miller, director of IT at Jerry’s Foods. “Scale Computing’s innovative edge solutions are making a huge impact on my day-to-day IT operations and they lead the market again with this no cost trial. This is a great opportunity for those who want to understand how edge and distributed computing can benefit them.”

The HE150 appliance is a small, all-flash, NVMe storage-based compute appliance that delivers all of the simplicity, efficiency, and enterprise-ready virtualization associated with Scale Computing’s HC3 platform. Built specifically for sites that need highly available infrastructure, the HE150 can be deployed almost anywhere, without requiring a rack or server closet. Taking up only the space needed to stack three smartphones, it also includes high availability clustering, rolling upgrades and integrated data protection.

“Edge computing enables organizations to run applications at maximum uptime where it was not feasible to before due to location and lack of IT resources. Scale Computing customers rave about how simple it is to implement and deploy the HC3 Edge platform. The simplicity of the self-healing platform, driven by automation and machine intelligence, allows Scale Computing customers to focus on other strategic projects rather than infrastructure maintenance,” commented Jeff Ready, CEO and co-founder, Scale Computing. “We are proud to be the only technology company offering an edge computing trial that includes the test hardware for end users so they can see if edge computing will benefit their organization.”

The Scale Computing HC3 Edge series brings on-premises edge computing with high availability and disaster recovery to remote locations at an affordable entry level cost. All edge models can be deployed quickly, managed locally or remotely, and our patented HyperCoreTM technology helps find and prevent infrastructure problems in real time. Applications are always available, even as hardware problems arise or updates are applied. With the Scale Computing HC3 Edge series, organizations can run applications and process data outside centralized data centers, at the edge of their network, closest to where that data is created and utilized.

Safetica 9.6: How to achieve flexible security for remote companies?

Companies around the world are switching to the home office often overnight. Safetica is striving to help them not only with its recommendations for working from home but also with the new version of its solution, which will be introduced in the upcoming days. New features include e.g. improved data transfer protection between remote devices, mood mapping in the team, and many other useful features.

Take a quick look at our webinar recording and find out more from our Safetica Team.

Regulatory compliance for remote companies

As organizations are shifting to remote working, ensuring proper identification and protection of personally identifiable information (PII), healthcare and financial data is even more important than before, so that the remote company complies with regulations such as GDPR, HIPAA or PCI-DSS.

To facilitate secure remote working, the following measures should be followed:

  • Keep company files protected when users connect to work devices remotely with the updated remote desktop DLP for protecting sensitive data transfers or all remote file transfers in general
  • Your users often best know what data they’re working with, so allow them to classify documents using our new built-in user-based data classification
  • Use the new DLP policies for combined data types and target specific data more accurately, for instance, build special policies for classified documents which also include specific sensitive data

The lack of human interaction in remote companies

Adopting remote work poses many challenges, be it transparency, communication, reaction time, or even interpersonal issues. To tackle these, fast problem identification is key.

  • Use the new Safetica work activity report to get a quick and comprehensive overview at your company and identify issues without unnecessary delays
  • Stay in touch with your employees and check up on how they’re doing using our new Team Mood mobile feature

The challenge of securing work devices at home

Working remotely often means taking work devices away from work or working from personally owned mobile devices.

  • Keep your company data secure when your users work from home with the Safetica Device Control, now also available for macOS
  • Separate company and personal data on mobile devices with the new generation of Safetica Mobile which integrates Android Enterprise Mobile Management
  • Support healthy work-life balance of your users with non-working hour settings also supported on macOS
