Companies close their offices on a large scale and introduce home office for all their employees. Currently, the\u00a0vast majority of all Czech companies<\/strong>\u00a0have introduced working\u00a0from home for up to several weeks.\u00a0A survey conducted by the technological company\u00a0Safetica\u00a0shows, however, that\u00a0most\u00a0affected\u00a0companies are not sufficiently prepared for these steps.<\/p>

\u201cOrdinarily\u00a0only\u00a0a few\u00a0percent\u00a0of companies allow home office, and\u00a0even\u00a0only\u00a0for\u00a0a part of their employees. Working from home to such an extent is an absolutely unprecedented step that, in most cases, has a fundamental impact on the functioning of\u00a0your company. Many\u00a0companies\u00a0are far from equipped and prepared for this step.\u00a0They\u00a0are\u00a0threatening\u00a0internal data\u00a0in particular,\u201d\u00a0<\/em>said Petr\u00a0\u017dike\u0161,\u00a0CEO\u00a0of\u00a0Safetica, a company\u00a0focused on\u00a0company\u00a0data security.<\/p>

The most common problems include\u00a0insufficient equipment\u00a0for\u00a0the\u00a0employees. Up to 65% of all\u00a0the\u00a0companies let\u00a0their\u00a0employees working\u00a0on their personal computers.<\/p>

What the companies should be careful of?<\/b><\/h2>

Experiences with data security show\u00a0that the remote connection\u00a0option\u00a0remains a major problem, e.g.\u00a0using the Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP). Without any other active protection,\u00a0RDP\u00a0allows\u00a0transferring\u00a0files from the workstation to the home station from which the user is connecting,\u00a0and\u00a0thus\u00a0it\u00a0allows\u00a0leaking\u00a0files\u00a0outside the working\u00a0environment.<\/p>

Experts point out that another critical point is setting\u00a0the\u00a0AD-controlled access privileges (see\u00a0the\u00a0box below) to\u00a0specific\u00a0systems, data, and applications within the\u00a0company\u00a0network, which are often not properly configured.\u00a0A failure to do so\u00a0may allow the user to access and thus compromise data to which he\u00a0or she\u00a0is not supposed to have access.<\/p>

On average, one in ten\u00a0companies\u00a0in the Czech Republic\u00a0has\u00a0experienced sensitive data leaks\u00a0<\/b><\/h2>

In most cases, this is an unintentional behavior caused by negligence.\u00a0\u201cWith the increasing number of people working remotely and even from their computer\u00a0instead of\u00a0their\u00a0employer\u2019s one, the\u00a0chances\u00a0of\u00a0data leakage problems increase,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0says\u00a0Zike\u0161,\u00a0noting also\u00a0a decrease in\u00a0the\u00a0productivity\u00a0being\u00a0a side effect.\u00a0\u201cThe problem is not only in the use of personal computers and mobile devices to work from home but also the connection to your home Wi-Fi. These networks are easy to break. Your employees often do not even know how to secure their home network,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0points out\u00a0Zike\u0161,\u00a0stressing also\u00a0that\u00a0Safetica\u00a0has\u00a0also prepared a manual on how to prepare the company and\u00a0its\u00a0employees for working\u00a0from home.<\/a><\/p>

He notes that also Safetica has adopted a company-wide working from home:\u00a0\u201cAs a technology company we have the advantage of being much better prepared for this type of work. But this is not the case in every company. This is what has led us to the idea of helping others in this situation.\u00a0And that\u00a0is why we\u00a0have suggested\u00a0recommendations on what measures to take\u00a0when working from home.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
